Croatia, January 4 (CD) – Former Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader has been expunged from the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party, it was announced by the HDZ leader and Croatian PM Jadranka Kosor on Monday.

Kosor explained that Sanader was expelled following his unilateral press conference held at the HDZ headquarters and without informing Kosor or any of the party’s high ranking members.

Sanader held a blitz press conference on Sunday at the HDZ headquarters in a bid to stir up the party and get its members to support him and in this way destabilise party and the country. He did not explain much of why he had reappeared, but said that he had made a mistake withdrawing from politics this summer.

He also said that he was returning due to the poor results of HDZ at the recent first round of the presidential elections.

Kosor explained that Sanader had gone over the heads of the HDZ high ranking members, something that was against the party rules and illegal.

Ivo Sanader, Croatia’s former PM left his post on July 1st without giving a viable explanation and handed over the country in tatters to current PM Jadranka Kosor.

His quick exit had shocked Croats and now his attempt to regain power had shocked them once again and most of them said on Sunday he had completely lost political credibility.
