Mother Gives Birth to Baby Girl in Car on a Motorway on the Way to Hospital

Croatia, January 23 (CD) – A 35-year-old woman gave birth to her new baby girl after she felt her water burst in a motorway tunnel on the way to hospital on Friday.

The Umag-based couple were rushing to get to the hospital in the port town of Rijeka on Friday evening, but the woman’s water broke in a tunnel on the motorway and they had to pull over while the woman gave birth to a healthy girl in the car before the arrival of the ambulance.

This was the third child for the brave mother and father who were helped in the effort of child delivery by a motorway fireman.

Ivica Kostelic Wins Wengen Slalom Race

Croatia, January 17 (CD) – Croatian skier Ivica Kostelic has won the Wengen slalom race on Sunday afternoon.

The victory has pushed the Croatian skier to the eighth place in the overall standings.

The other Croatian skier who managed to capture some points is Natko Zrncic-Dim who ended the race in 20th place, while the other Croatian skier Dalibor Samsal failed to end the race.

The runner up is Swiss skier Andre Myhrer, while Benjamin Reich from Austria came in third.
